Why Functional Exercise?
If you want to move with greater ease, feel stronger, be more balanced or stable, and enjoy activities without getting out of breath—functional exercise is for you. Just as the name suggests, functional exercise will improve the way your body moves and make it easier for you to function day to day.
Every functional exercise serves a purpose, but it’s not to create bulging muscles or shape certain body parts for looks alone. As you improve the way your body works, it may end up looking better, too. Plus, if you really want that bulging bicep for show, we can always add it to your functional training program!
Are you training functionally?
Think about this next time you use a weight machine at a health club: Is the exercise helping you get better at something you actually DO in your life, or is it designed to make a particular muscle bigger? Does the exercise challenge you to use several regions of the body together simultaneously, or is it isolating a body part?
Whether you want to improve at a sport, have more stamina on vacation or climb stairs without pain, functional fitness training is the approach to use.
What Do You Want from Your Body?
Functional exercise helps you get more of what you want from your body—whether you want to shed pounds, move with greater confidence, enter a triathlon, or anything in between. Working with a qualified professional who understands functional exercise will help you reach your fitness goals as safely and quickly as possible. Going to a gym and trying to figure it out on your own will never get the same results.

My road trip last summer was completely different than it would have been if I had not gotten Susan’s help. My arthritic knees handled the hiking and allowed me to explore beautiful country out West on a once-in-a-lifetime reunion journey with my sisters.
